About Wealden Philatelic Auctions

Although Wealden Philatelic Auctions is a brand new business (launched 1st October 2006) it is backed by many years of philatelic knowledge and experience.

The business is run by Duncan Purves with help from his wife Chris(tine) and sister-in-law Teresa Dobing.

Duncan Purves, a Chartered Accountant by profession, collected Commonwealth stamps for 35 years prior to establishing the now very successful Purves Philatelics in 2001. He and his long suffering wife Chris made their first foray into the trade in 1990 when they set up C P Postal Auctions which was followed some years later by Kentish Postal Auctions.

Increasing pressure of work forced the sale of the two auction businesses in 1999 but common sense finally prevailed when Duncan was persuaded by Chris to do what he had always wanted to do and play with ‘his little bits of coloured paper’ for a living.

The growth of Purves Philatelics heralded the arrival of Teresa in September 2005 and she has now given up her ‘proper’ job to become the full time Office Administrator of the two businesses. When you phone the office it is her cheerful voice that you are most likely to be greeted by!

Our aim is to create an auction house with a difference – one where service and quality matter. When you bid in a Wealden Philatelic Auction you can do so with total confidence knowing that each lot has been accurately described and the condition of the material you receive can be totally relied upon.
